Newspaper reveals the backstage of the "paved road" towards Saudi Arabia hosting the 2034 World Cup

Saudi Arabia has found a "paved path" to hosting the 2034 World Cup, after becoming the only country nominated to host the tournament, according to the British newspaper, the Financial Times .

According to the newspaper, the "paved road" taken by the wealthy Gulf kingdom towards its desire to organize the World Cup came through "sudden changes in the bidding process for the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA)."

The result was that the Kingdom was the only country to bid to host the World Cup, following a “strong Saudi campaign of lobbying and relationship-building, as part of its broader drive to influence international sport,” according to the same newspaper report.
