PlayStation 5 sales exceed 50 million copies

Japanese company Sony announced that its sales of the PlayStation 5 reached 50 million copies, three years after the launch of this video game platform, in a result that confirms a strong acceleration in its sales, which were negatively affected for a long time due to a shortage that affected a number of goods.

“Thanks to the support of PlayStation fans around the world, PlayStation 5 sales have seen strong momentum this year, driven by a series of highly popular games,” Sony said in a statement on Wednesday.

Sales were boosted by the release of hit games such as Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which sold more than 2.5 million copies in the 24 hours following its release in late October, and Baldur's Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2.
