Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune appointed his current chief of staff, Noureddine Bedoui, as prime minister on Saturday, succeeding Ayman Abdel Rahman, the presidency said in a statement, a year before the presidential election, AFP reported.
The statement said, "President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, appointed Mr. Nadhir Bedoui as Prime Minister, succeeding Mr. Ayman Benabderrahmane, whose duties have been terminated."
According to the agency, the appointment of Al-Arabi (74 years old), an experienced diplomat close to Tebboune (77 years old), to this position comes a year before the expected presidential elections in December 2024, while the President of the Republic has not yet announced whether he intends to run for a second term or not.
